The UofU Singers Announce a new release!

CD Image          The Singers proudly present their newest release, "How Can I Keep From Singing?" This CD represents a compilation of the Singers' Summer Tour '07 repertoire, featuring: "La Rose Compl_te" and "Dirait-on" by Morten Lauridsen, "When David Heard" by Eric Whitacre, "Elijah Rock" by Moses Hogan, "Where is Love" arr. By Gene Puerling, "How Can I Keep from Singing" in both English and French, arr. by Ronald Staheli; as well as European folks songs such as "Sing a Song of Sixpence" arr. by John Rutter.

$1.25 MILLION GIFT CREATES CHAIR IN CHORAL STUDIES
         Dec. 10, 2007 - The University of Utah's School of Music has a newly endowed chair in choral studies, thanks to a generous gift from Kem and Carolyn Gardner. Worth $1.25 million, the gift was announced Saturday evening at the University Choirs Holiday Concert at Libby Gardner Concert Hall, which featured performances by the acclaimed University of Utah Singers, a mixed choir comprised of 47 students led by Dr. Brady Allred. It was also announced that Allred will be the first holder of the new chair, named the Ellen Neilson Barnes Presidential Endowed Chair for Choral Studies.read more...

The University of Utah Singers were selected by the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition to premiere Judith Bingham's Ghost Towns of the American West in 2007 as part of an international performing consortium of choirs which includes Vocal Essence (Philip Brunelle, conductor) and the BBC Singers (Stephen Cleobury, conductor).
